First Trimester, Pre Natal Exercise Video

September 22, 2014

So many of my clients have asked me about exercising during pregnancy so I thought it would be worthwhile making a selection of videos that will demonstrate what you can do at certain points through this time. For a variety of reasons it is hugely beneficial to workout during pregnancy, as it not only will keep you fit and healthy, but will also help you during labour and beyond.

It is really important to note this is not the time to take up exercise if you aren't already regularly training. If exercise hasn't been part of your life previously stick to walking or swimming through this period. The video below is for those who are used to working hard in the gym and wish to continue a tailored version of their routine as they move through the 9 months.

First up is my video for regular exercises who have just discovered they are pregnant and are in their first trimester. This is a period in which women find themselves feeling tired and nauseaous so it is really important to take things slowly and listen to your body.

Important notes for exercising in the first trimester:

- Always consult your doctor before exercising

- Make sure you drink plenty of water

- Ensure you don't over heat - workout in a cool environment

- Take regular breaks (even if you don't think you need to)

- Stop if you start to feel breathless or dizzy

Feel free to get in touch if you have any further questions about the video or prenatal training. Keep an eye out for the 2nd Trimester workout coming soon!
